Conical roof with circular crate by hand
Contents ✓
If you decide to give the roof of the house, the cottage is a cone-shaped shape reminiscent of the towers of ancient castles.
This article was published in the journal in the framework of the material for the construction and installation of rotunda with their own hands, but it is suitable for all those who wish to make a conical, conical roof on any construction.
The rafter is made of glued beams, as well as fake frame, not only decorated the house, but also partially became a support for the rafter legs, diverging fan from the common center and forming a cone-shaped shape.
Seventeen spokes in the wheel
At the point where the upper edges of the 17 rafters meet, a pillar is erected, on top of which a strong semicircle of glued wood is rigidly fixed. In the semicircle, like spokes in the rim of the wheel, and fixed the pointed ends of the rafters, and not the narrowest part that provides the necessary strength of the connection. Additional strength is given to the structural unit by small angular cuts on the lower plane of the rafter beam at the point of its connection with the supporting semicircle, as well as the metal corners securing the wooden parts.
From the underside of the roof, at the place where the rafters are fastened to the support beam along the perimeter of the semicircular wall, the distance between them is, on the contrary, quite large (65 cm), and the problem becomes the opposite - to reduce this distance by half so that the crate under the tiling has a uniform smooth bend. For this purpose, in the lower part of the rafter cone, auxiliary, smaller cross-sections are laid between the main bars, giving the surface a smooth roundness and additional strength.
After that, a metal drainage gutter is installed around the perimeter of the extension. Since it is rather difficult to find a curvilinear trench of the required length, it will have to be assembled from separate segments of smaller size, welding them together. If you make the connections neatly, the prefab can not be distinguished from the solid one.
Flexible plastic crate
The tile under the tile, traditionally made of wooden blocks of square section, sewn over the rafters, in this case is not good - it is impossible to lay such bars with the necessary bend dictated by the shape of the conical roof: they simply break. Therefore, there is another solution - a crate of flexible plastic bars. According to their bearing capacity, they are not inferior to wood of the same cross-section, and the flexibility of the polymer material allows them to give a smooth arc. For added reliability, place the plastic blocks in two layers, one on top of the other, and screw them to the rafters with screws.
After that, it's the turn of the shingles. And here the conical shape of the roof again will prompt you to look for an adequate solution, because the bottom of the row from row to row the width of the tiles should decrease, and they should have a slightly curved shape corresponding to the bend of the conical roof. Fortunately, the producer of shingles also envisaged such non-standard cases, including conical tiles in a number of products (for example, a series Altrot with a noble ancient hue). Calculate the length of the rafters, the angle of the slope and the area of the roof, and buy the necessary roofing elements.
Laying is done quite traditional for tile roofing: bottom to top. Each subsequent tile is laid with an overlap on the side and underlying.
However, unlike the traditional roof with flat skylights, the tile creases from row to row are reduced in width, so each successive row consists of an ever smaller number of elements practically descending to the top of the roof.
So step by step instruction on the construction of a conic, (concave) roof with a circular crate:
1. Part of the half-timbered frame has become an ideal rafter structure with skate stakes on 30 cm
2. Over the concrete overlap, lay the curved Mauerlat beam, to which, at a short distance from each other, secure the rafters
3. The ends of the rafters are sharpened to tighten them at the top of the conical roof. The rightmost bar adjoins the wall of the house
4. The upper ends of the rafters with corner cuts are laid on a semicircular support and fasten with metal corners
5. Rails from the inside: the rafters should be evenly laid on a wooden semicircle fixed to the top of the pillar
6. One short, one long: for the crate use longitudinal bars of two sizes - long, lying exactly on top of the rafters, and short - located in the middle of the spacing between the strops
7. Roll the waterproofing from the bottom up, carefully smoothing the folds. Fully overlapped joints
9. Before laying the shingles, fix the copper drainage trough, neatly welded from the individual parts
10. Holders for the gutter should be fixed to the center of the rafters exactly under the welded joints of the segments
11. The distance between the horizontal slats of the crate of durable flexible plastic depends on the size of the tile
12. At this stage, the conical rotunda roof is ready for coating. The tile roof will also be trimmed with a rebuilt garage
13. For the convenience of work, each element of the conical tile is marked with a stamp with the number of its series
14. When laying the first row of tiles, fasten to a strong, durable and not rotted plastic sheeting
15. In the 2 series, the width of the tiles is slightly less than in the first, in the third - less than in the second and so on.
16. In the 4 series, because of the narrowing of the roof cone, tiles with a two-wave profile
17. Each second wave of a tiled profile smoothly ends in the fourth row
18. From the left edge of the roof, the rows are closed not by a conic, but by a standard tile of a standard configuration. elements of which protrude somewhat beyond the edge of the roof, protecting from the weather the elements of the pediment
20. The roof of the garage adjacent to the rotunda is covered with tiles of the same brand, but with a direct configuration
21. The order of the roofing is the same as in the case of the rotunda; Elements are screwed to the crate by screws
22. In the place of adjoining the roof of the garage to the surface of the outer wall, the waterproofing tape is masked by a strip of tin placed on top of the tiled coating.
Tip:
In places where the roof joins the surface of the outer wall, it is necessary to provide a reliable waterproofing. For this, a sealing strip with a height of at least 10 cm is glued over the connection line with a continuous strip.
