How to decorate a balcony
Most often, residents of urban high-rise buildings have a question, how to convert a small space of a loggia or balcony, so that it becomes not only useful, but also beautiful. As practice shows, having equipped this modest oasis in the area, you can comfortably admire the beauty of the surrounding world without leaving the apartment. What role only the balconies do today: these are the cabinets, the winter gardens, the place for meditation, and even the "street café"!
And if you are lucky with a view from the window, then the balcony will replace the dacha!
Balcony - a place for meditation
Acknowledgment of this thesis is the work of one of the ideologists of the construction of houses connected with nature, the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who received wide recognition. He "let" the nature into the house and created with it a single living space. Similar proposals were approved not only in low-rise, but also in multi-storey construction.
Preparation for reconstruction
So, before the work began, several design proposals (sketches) were made, in which the planning of the balcony and loggia, their exact dimensions, the basic finishing materials corresponding to the selected sketches (figure 1-6) should be taken into account. On the first of them (fig. 1) as the basic decorative furniture the wooden lattice consisting of square cells is offered.
The material for it is wooden bars 50 x 15 mm with a well polished surface, covered with furniture varnish of light tones. The entire structure of the grill is attached to the concrete wall of the house and the partition wall of the loggia-balcony using self-tapping screws. They are screwed into wooden blocks, fixed in walls and partitions.
Various shelves, tables, pots with flowers and plants are hung on the rails of the grate. This multi-colored floral panel creates a bright background for light folding furniture, which is installed on the balcony area.
In addition to the lattice for flowers and plants, you can use a wooden two-level stand (Fig. 1).
We decorate the space
An interesting reception of the decorative design of the partition is proposed in Fig. 2. Here, as in the previous version, a wooden rack is used, assembled into a group of three differently shaped panels. They create a dynamic pattern, consisting of racks and attached boxes of flowers and pots with climbing plants.
Such reception of registration can be used on any loggia. How these decorative elements are attached to different vertical planes is shown in the figure.

Create an interior
After placing the decor, I would like to touch on the issue of arranging furniture and equipment, which, as a rule, are made of lightweight folding metal or wooden rails.
Elements quickly stack one on top of another and, if necessary, are removed (Figure 3). A similar design applies to the folding table attached to the fence. Its table top has the shape of a semicircle, made of multi-ply, covered several times with matte varnish.
In another case, the window board is located near the window and the wall has a plan in the shape of the letter G (Figure 5).
We warm the balcony
Owners of loggias prefer to create a warmroom there (figure 4 and 5). In this case, first of all, it is necessary to insulate not only the side walls, floor, ceiling, but also to mount warm windows of PVC or aluminum.
The most effective option of insulation can be penofol thickness of 5 mm. This material is resistant to direct sunlight, has a high durability and practically does not lose its thermal insulation properties in due course.
The next stage of the work is the warming of the walls. This is the installation of the lathing and wall covering, for example, with PVC lining (Figure 3, 5). Installation of the lath starts from the floor: along the length of the balcony, beams (logs) are laid 50 x 70 mm in increments of 45 cm. Considering the small weight of the lining, a wooden beam of 20 cross section x 40 mm is used for wall slinging.
Preliminaries are treated with an antiseptic. For vertical sheathing, the lathing is laid horizontally by fastening the beam with self-tapping screws to the loggia racks in increments of 40 cm. The lining installation starts from the loggia corners. At this stage, you need to solve the problem of plugging electricity through a hole in the wall and hide the cables under the lining.
For a floor it is possible to choose a linoleum thickness 4 mm - it is accessible under the price and has a various color scale. The lining is covered with a layer of moisture-proof plywood with a thickness of 10 mm, as under the linoleum the floors do not breathe at all and the water, if it falls under it, will not evaporate anywhere. Plywood helps to avoid this disadvantage. The edges of the linoleum are fixed using skirting boards.
Such a design can be supplemented with elements of a warm floor, which will help warm the room during the off-season. For these purposes, an infra-red film floor system is suitable, which does not require complicated preparatory work, but is simply mounted on a wooden base for linoleum.
For glazing can be used aluminum profile with glass 6 mm and sliding doors. Thus, the loggia turns into a full-fledged place where you can relax and do your favorite thing not only in summer, but also in late autumn and early spring.

We put furniture
Our reconstructed loggia has a depth of 150 cm. It allows you to equip it with various furniture: here you can comfortably place a compact sofa for rest (4, 6), an integrated desktop with hanging shelves above it (Figure 4,5), you can attach the mounted partitions a folding shelf in the form of a workbench, which will enable you to make a little pomaster and do something useful for the house with your own hands.
Thus, we received an additional place for work and leisure. Now you have your own personal space!

I arranged a tool corner on the balcony and remembered that several pairs of skis were gathering dust in the garage.
I decided to put them into action. Screwed to a concrete wall. I screwed in the screws instead of the hooks and hung the tools on them. It turned out both practical and unusual.

Dove the balcony was chosen by pigeons. Children really enjoyed watching them, but along with positive emotions birds brought a bunch of problems - noise and dirt mixed with a dung. To get rid of annoying "lodgers", he made a simple device.
From a piece of metal reinforcement mesh with a 10 × 10 cm mesh, I cut a strip into pieces (photo 1). I cut the central jumpers through one approximately in the middle and bent them in opposite directions at an angle of 90 degrees, (photo 2) It turned out to be a convenient and lightweight design. He made several such "hedgehogs" and fastened them with plastic clamps over the ebb - the "annoying tenants" moved out within two days.
