Garden paths at the dacha - which of which where and how
Garden paths are the arteries of the site, along which the country life runs. And like in any living organism, they all lead to a "heart" - a cozy and hospitable house. So, it is simply obliged to harmonize the surrounding space. What is needed for this? The smallest thing is to determine the purpose of the track, to give it the necessary outlines and to correctly select the satellites. Let's look at this process step by step!

Step one. What is the role of the path: main or secondary?
The performers of the main roles are responsible for the presentation of the garden (for example, the path leading from the street to the entrance door), and also designed for exercise and admiring the prospect opening from certain points of the site.
These "ceremonial-weekend" garden arteries should be wide enough and equipped in such a way as not to turn into a dirty swamp during a rain or snowfall.
We recommend to pave them with durable material and pay close attention to the design. "Actors" of the second plan got a more mundane, practical "party" (for example, they carry wheelbarrows). These elements do not carry any decorative function, they can be filled up with loose material, for example gravel or mulch from the bark, or made of individual stepboards.
Step two. What form should I give to the track?
Here the decisive role is played by the style of decoration of the garden, because in the modern sector, direct routes with sharp rectangular corners are more appropriate, which can not be said of the garden of the country or Mediterranean style.
Fans of intricate bends landscape designers give such advice: the path should not change its direction without any reason. Good reasons to change the trajectory can be a bush, a tree, a large boulder or deco-element, in a word, an object that makes the path "wiggle" to the side. Tip: obstacle objects can be placed just after the track's bookmark, thereby justifying a daring turn.
Step three. The choice of satellites.
Picturesque and harmonious appearance of the paths are attached to the neighboring plants. Blurred borders to the face of cobbled variants - the representatives of the flora successfully smooth the severity of the massive design elements. Do you prefer a strict style and want to emphasize the clarity of lines? Plant along the way a low cropped hedge.
Important: a holistic impression of the house and plot helps to create the right color of the material. Warm tones (brown, beige, yellow, red) are appropriate in rustic and Mediterranean possessions.
Gray shades have a unique feature: they harmonize in the garden with any environment. In the modern sector, cold and restrained tones of stone and concrete look optimal. Here the key role is played by the shape of individual elements and their dimensions: the more geometric and larger the plate, the more modest they should look.

Garden paths with their own hands - design options
1. Around the house, as a rule, lay narrow straight paths. In the photo you can see an alternative: the "wave" of gravel gently rounds two semicircular flower beds.
2 Like beads in a necklace look paved with paving stones circles, "strung" on narrow paths-threads, made of the same material. Thanks to round bends, the track looks more dynamic.
3. Gray plates magically lose their nondescriptness, it is only necessary to lay them out in an unconventional way, for example, simply by moving them to the sides with respect to each other.
4. In a natural garden, the most harmonious are the playgrounds and paths paved with cobblestones. To stack them is very simple - just take out the soil in the right place, gently lay the stones and fill the joints with earth.
5. A gravel path can always be supplemented with other material, such as stone slabs.
Legs for joy: the track massager with their own hands
Why not create a path next to the house, along which you can walk barefoot? Foot massage is incredibly healthy!
To lay a beautiful trail-massager very simple. Divide the path into several parts and fill each one with different material, for example, the first with mulch from the bark, the second with gravel, and the third with sand (or stones of different fractions, as in the photo). For fencing along the perimeter of the path, it is advisable to install paving stones, and for delimiting into "sections" it is better to use a metal profile with rounded edges.
We lay the foundation of the garden path
To begin with, you need to define the outlines of the future path, and then remove the layer of earth and compact the bottom. After that, you can proceed to create a curb, which will not allow the bulk material to move to flower beds.
1. Cobbles for edging, install 2-15 cement-sand mortar in 20-3 thickness. When the mortar cools, in the bed of the track, pour 15 rubble into a layer of 20-4 cm and lather XNUMX with non-woven material so that the weeds do not germinate (edges along the rim curl upwards).
5. The last layer is decorative gravel or pebbles. The laying of the track from the pavers takes place in the same way.
1 Edge slabs set the 2 ribbon foundation. On the compacted 3 carrier layer of rubble, pour the sand with a layer of 3-5, see. Finally put the pavement on the pillow 5, replace the cement-sand mixture in the seams and soak it.
Just one material, and a lot of design options! In the photo above the path turned out to be not ordinary due to the use of stones of different breeds.
For secondary tracks, it is possible to use a loose basis, for example sawdust, but in this case, there is no way to do without curbs.
Mortar for joints
Paving stones are laid, leaving a distance of 2-5 mm between the bricks. The seams are filled so that they do not move and voids do not form under them. For this purpose, you can use sand (for example, a fraction of 0/2 mm) or small gravel (for example, a fraction of 1/3 mm). The most expensive joint fillers, but also the most effective in controlling uninvited green guests, are special solutions or sand mixed with substances that suppress weed germination.
Plants for the garden path
Colorful plants, settled among the gray stones of the walkway, look incredibly impressive. In addition, this is the best protection against unwanted guests - weeds.
No matter how hard you try to clear the couch grass and K ° joints between the slabs on the path, they appear with enviable persistence again. Herbicide treatment is not the best option even for paved garden areas. What to do?
Of course, you can go the traditional way and concrete the seams. But we offer a more attractive alternative. If, under such conditions, weeds feel great, why not use these "warm places" for cultivated plants?
Then you will not leave "savages" any chance! It is worth noting that this way you can transform any track, even with the most extreme "conditions of existence". The only question is who to settle here.

To fill the joints between the stones, plants that are used for planting roofs are ideally suited - they are real survival aces. Such "supermen" include, for example, "some types of cleaning, undersized ornamental grasses, as well as unpretentious, resistant to trampling spicy herbs.
These modest characters are ready to be satisfied with minimal watering and soil with a limited amount of nutrients - without compromising on growth and development. Ideally, it is advisable to use ready-mixed soil for roof gardening. If it was not found, the usual garden soil mixed with sand would do.
Greening the seams of the path can be in two ways: planting already grown plants or sowing their seeds. The first method is good because the result is visible right away. However, if the joints are very narrow, "settling" in them "pets" is quite problematic - that is why sowing is considered the best option.
For an even seed, it is desirable to mix the seeds with sand. We need to sow in the peeled and filled with soil mix joints. Important: the seeds should be at 1-2 cm below the level of pavers or slabs.
Sprinkle them with earth should not be. Immediately after sowing (and regularly in arid weather), water the path carefully, trying not to wash the seeds out of the joints.
It is important to know
Proven candidates for landscaping of stitches are undersized spicy herbs: a noble and creeping sham resistant to trampling (pictured).
- The bryozoan is awl-like, the caustic acrid, the cat's foot (Antennaria) and the young (Sempervivum) belong to the winter-green plants.
- Before planting an earthen plant, the plants must be thoroughly soaked with water, and then disassembled into suitable sized pieces.
- Important: once a year, the plants in the seams after the flowering should be cut with scissors or mowed with a lawn mower, otherwise they will rapidly occupy the nearby territory.
1. Cymbalaria muralis (Cymbalaria muralis) grows without problems and blossoms on a steep wall. Although the beauty comes from the Mediterranean, it is quite winter-hardy.
2. White clearing (Sedum album) - unpretentious and fast growing soil cover perennial, blooming from June to September.
3. Dryad Sündermann (Dryas x suendermannii) - an evergreen herbaceous perennial with cream-white flowers that appear in June - July.
4. Fillet nodiferous (Phyla nodiflora) flaunts in a white and pink floral outfit in July - August. It grows like a carpet. 5 Orange-red hawk (Hieracium aurantiacum) blooms from June to August. The plant reaches a height of 20-40 cm and grows rapidly.
6. Spotted Euphorbia (Euphorbia maculata) due to its creeping shoots is perfect for filling joints. But do not forget that this "pet" is poisonous.
Do-it-yourself temporary tracks

Track stitches
Deciding to create beautiful and durable paths in your garden, it is not always possible to realize this dream at once. Therefore, there is the question of laying temporary stitches-paths. They can appear in the garden very quickly and do not require a lot of money.
One of the variants of the time tracks is from wood cuts (Figure 1). It should be taken into account that their thickness should not exceed 20 cm, but it is better not to thin 10 cm, since such spills will easily fall out of the path under excessive loading or in the case of mechanical forces.
Spill need to be treated with linseed oil, so that they are protected from rotting and other troubles. Then, using a cord, you need to trace the future footpaths with a width of 50 cm.
Then remove 10 cm of the upper ball of the soil and fall asleep in the trench created by the rubble, and on top of the sand (it needs to be compacted). Such a foundation should ensure the removal of moisture from under the wooden spills and extend the life of their use. Spils are laid in a box
track, deepening them in the pillow with a kyanki. The space between the spills is filled with a mixture of sand or earth with plant seeds that will eventually cover the soil. Get a smooth and safe to move the surface. The edges of the tracks can be strengthened with the help of wooden pegs.
Another accessible and fast version of the temporary tracks is from gravel with boards from the boards (Figure 2). At the same time, gravel must necessarily be spread or roofing material, or geotextile, so that the rubble does not overgrown with time grass. As a base for a path filled with rubble, you can use a gas grid.
Different types of tracks can be made from polymer tiles (Figure 3). Benefit now on sale there are many options that can be used both as a permanent and as a temporary cover. The plus of this method is that, in order to install polymer modules, there is no need for large-scale preparatory work. All that is needed for laying tiles. - flat and dense surface.
As a basis, use fine gravel, flat lawn or compacted soil, but not sand, as it is too loose and will not withstand a significant weight without deformation. The convenience of such a coating is also that it can be quickly dismantled and used in any other place in the garden. It is better to use a tile with a relief surface that will prevent slipping in wet weather.

Planning last winter a new corner in the garden, I decided to build a path there that would connect a hidden barbecue area with a ceremonial rosary.
The idea arose by itself: the path must smoothly coil between fruit trees, skirting the summer gazebo and hiding behind a bend. For work used improvised materials left after construction: planed board thickness of 25 mm and ordinary brick masonry. First, with a bayonet shovel outlined the contours, selecting the width of the track in 60 cm.
I took out a small layer of earth from the outlined zone, building a loose "bed". To protect the path from weeds and premature rotting of the tree, the bottom is covered with geotextile. Sliced it with a margin of 5 cm on each edge. Then she began laying the curb: she put the brick on the rib tightly to each other, and let the edges of the geotextile out under it.
For the flooring cut slabs of length 60 cm, treated them with antiseptic (protection from decay) and dried. Spreading them smooth turns of the track was not so easy. Formed gaps filled with small gravel, so that the canvas was uniform and convenient for walking. Over time, the boards and crushed stone fell more densely, the ground was tamped well, and on the sides of the path rose flower beds.

Plant beds with vegetables are dangerous to spill from weeds with potent solutions. But on the tracks they are simply irreplaceable. I checked several options in the case. Everything works, the main thing is to work on a sunny morning.
Seams between tiles can be spilled with a solution of salt (2 tbsp per 1 L of water).
Most plants die when watering them with boiling water. But it is more reliable: I boil 1 l of water, I add 2 st.l. salt, 10 st.l. 9% vinegar and immediately pour between the tiles - through 2-3 days weeds end, and there is not yet a minimum of 2 weeks.
The moss between the tiles is best served by a solution of table vinegar (1: 1 with water).
And from the weeds, and from the ants, a solution of borax (300 g per 10 L of water) is effective.
Most of all, we have overgrown the wrong track. Therefore, it was dismantled, a layer of turf was removed, sanded, covered with dense polyethylene, and the tiles were laid again. Now - order!

This year I made an unusual path to the summer soul. Next to the shower, we have a well, so it's always damp, and dirt stuck to the shoes, and now it's just wonderful!
To make such a path, you need to collect quite a few plastic bottles. Then they need to be cleaned of labels. After that, the bottom of the bottle is cut off (somewhere at 5 cm), we pour the soil into an improvised glass and turn it upside down. It is desirable that during the arrangement of the track the ground is wet, then it will be easier to compact the plastic elements.
In this way, you can create tracks anywhere on the site. At the end of the work, you must actively trample, so that everything is properly laid back and strengthened. That's all. Simple and beautiful.
Do not be afraid to fantasize and do not like everyone else! From this you get both pleasure and benefit.

I could not pass by the autumn past the fruit of the chestnuts and fill them with supplies. DRIED, THEY ARE THE BEAUTIFUL MATERIAL FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF THE CHILD MASSAGE TRACK.
It was necessary: chestnuts screwdriver thick synthetic thread long needle with a big eye
Prepare
With a screwdriver in each chestnut drilled two perpendicular perpendicular holes.
Stringing
In the first chestnut I introduced a needle and fixed it with a loop. Then strung chestnuts on a string, introducing a needle only in
one of the through holes of each chestnut. The length of the thread corresponds to the length of the future track. The last chestnut fastened like the first. Total produced 8 of such threads.
Weaving
On the floor, she spread out chestnut strips parallel to each other. A needle with threaded thread connected the blanks into a single cloth (see diagram). Secured the thread behind the last chestnut. The massage path is ready.

Walking on a massage mat is a useful wellness procedure. It not only relieves fatigue, but also stimulates the entire body, thanks to an active action on the nerve endings of the feet, directly connected with all the main organs. A great alternative to expensive and not always quality services are massagers made by themselves. Walking on an orthopedic mat has no contraindications. This allows them to use them without restrictions to adults and, most importantly, children from the day they stand up.
