How and from what you can make a beautiful doghouse

A house for the Baks own hands
AT THE DAYS ARRIVED ON THE GUESTS OF THE VNUCHOK AND BROUGHT WITH THE DOG. With the heat, he reported that the dog would live with us, since he already does not have enough places in the apartment. TO AVOID THE FAMILIARD NOT SPRING, PROMISED TO SMILE A COMFORTABLE BURDEN FOR A FAVORITE NURSE AND IMMEDIATELY COME TO WORK.
For the construction of a doghouse it was required: a beam with a cross section of 50 × 50 mm trim OSB polycarbonate floorboard 25 mm thick.
- I drew a sketch (see Figure 1, on page 14) of the building. From the bars and the floorboard on the self-tapping screws assembled a platform-base 1200x 900 mm. Wooden "podium" placed in the right place, laying under it a layer of foam to leave an air gap.
- From the beam he made a frame and nailed it to the platform with nails. Outside, she lined the structure with pieces of OSB. In the front wall I cut out the entrance opening. From the inside of the wall, the booth was insulated with polystyrene foam and also lined with OSB.
- He made a roof for a canine house in the form of an arch construction. For this, a frame was assembled from the beam and fixed on it two sheets of polycarbonate. That part of the roof, which is located above the booth, was insulated with foam plastic. Has fixed a roof on a box self-tapes. To the end of the overhanging canopy was fastened a pediment made of plywood with the name of a pet. The walls of the house were painted with dark brown acrylic paint in two layers with interlayer drying.
Important!
The ends of the plates due to the porous structure before painting should be treated with a sealant and putty to prevent moisture from penetrating through them and destroying the material.
Luxurious and warm kennel really liked the four-footed friend of the family.

DOG BOOTH: IDEAS AND CONSTRUCTIONS FROM READERS
OWN SHEPHERD BOOTH FOR OWN HANDS
Friends got themselves a German shepherd and asked to build a booth for it. Given the breed of the dog, I decided to make a brutal structure with a ladder and a folding roof. As a material, I used scraps of unedged boards, lining and OSB sheet.
- I made a box from unedged board according to standard sizes for this breed of dogs. From the inside I insulated all the walls and the floor with foam plastic, sheathed it with clapboard. In one of the end walls I cut out an opening for the entrance with a jigsaw, and in the other - a long window.
- To make it convenient to clean the dog's dwelling in the future, I decided to make the roof openable. From the same scraps of unedged boards, I knocked down a shield of the required size. On the side that will look inside the structure, I screwed the OSB sheet for insulation with self-tapping screws. Over-door hinges attached the finished roof to the frame (photo 1)
- Since it was planned to install the booth in the aviary, I attached a shield with self-tapping screws to one of the long walls (on the right side), which I collected from scraps of boards. To make it still convenient for the little dog to climb onto the roof, I made a ladder and fixed it on the side opposite to the shield (photo 2)
- The window and the entrance were decorated with dry branches. I picked them up in shape and cut them to the desired length, fixed them on self-tapping screws. On the bottom of the booth, I nailed an impromptu fence, having previously painted it with stain.
- I treated the booth with a protective antiseptic against fungus and moisture. I took the board for the stairs from the box in which the glass was previously transported, I decided not to remove the technical inscriptions on purpose, this gave the booth a more brutal look.

Note: So that the dog is not cramped
Before proceeding with the construction of a home for a four-legged friend, you need to decide on the size so that the pet feels comfortable in its house.
The dimensions of the booth directly depend on the size of the animal. There are several types of buildings: for small dogs (for example, dachshunds) - 70 cm long, 55 cm wide and 60 cm high; for medium-sized (for example, German shepherds) - length 1, 2 m, width 75 cm and height 80 cm; for large breeds (such as the Caucasian Shepherd Dog) - length 1, 4 m, width 1 m and height 95 cm.
It should also be borne in mind that the dog's chest should be free.
go through the hole in the booth, so add 5-8 cm to its width.
The maximum vertical size of the booth and the depth should be 5-8 cm more than the height of the animal at the withers.
Note
Animals that are outdoors throughout the year need an insulated kennel. The following materials are used to insulate buildings:
Styrofoam. Unlike most natural insulation materials, it does not rot and has soundproofing properties. The disadvantage of this material is flammability.
Sawdust. Natural and safe insulation for animal health. But before using it, it is necessary to carry out a treatment that prevents the appearance of harmful insects. The disadvantages of sawdust are flammability and susceptibility to decay.
By the way
To reduce drafts, doghouse manholes; must be covered with a thick cloth, tarpaulin or artificial felt.
Mineral wool.
One of the best dog kennel insulation. The only drawback is that over time it cakes and loses its thermal insulation qualities.
Glass wool. This material is good as insulation, but it is very rarely used, as the smallest particles of fiberglass can damage the eyes or enter the dog's respiratory tract.

DOG BOOTH FROM A BAR WITH YOUR OWN HANDS
After arranging the site, there were many scraps of timber with a section of 80 × 80 mm. He disposed of the material with benefit - he made a solid and comfortable home for his dog.
Cleared and flattened the ground. On it he laid three concrete steps close to each other along the length - the foundation turned out (you can fill it with cement). I put a plastic pallet on the base, which I bought on the basis of recyclable materials. He made the first crown of the structure from the bars. The parts were fixed together with self-tapping screws 5 × 150 mm (diameter, length). A layer of roofing material was laid inside the frame for waterproofing (photo 1).
Row by row he continued to draw out the walls, leaving an opening for the entrance (photo 2) The bars were connected both in the corners and along the plane with self-tapping screws. I drilled holes for a screw in each upper bar so that it screwed in better.
Folded nine rows. Formed the entrance platform from the same timber. In addition, I did not fix it with anything, I just inserted it into the pallet. I screwed a block on top of the front wall, then covered the roof with a board so that the visor was also over the entire area in front of the entrance. On top I screwed the trimming of the corrugated board with screws.
Inside the booth, roofing material was covered with scraps of bars, without fixing them. The finished structure was coated with a protective compound for wood in several layers.

THE LIFE OF A DOG AND THE BUD OWN HANDS
Every responsible owner seeks to please his tailed pets. But sometimes you can't guess what surprises your concern will turn out to be ...
My friends got a dog of an unusual breed: a variety of French Shepherd - Beauceron. I don't know what prompted them to do this, but, as they say, there is no dispute about tastes. Personally, I have a "German" named Archibald who lives on the site. Indeed, in the village, on your own, fenced-off territory, it is a nice thing to have a guard-shepherd dog. Moreover, I can afford such pleasure. And friends can too.
But my dog is "woolen" and can sleep in the snow even in frosts (though not very strong). And the beauceron is smooth-haired, it freezes on the street already in the off-season. Friends would be happy to drive him into the house when they leave for work, but upon returning they always encounter unpleasant surprises: furniture is "trimmed", wallpaper is ripped off, shoes are chewed. So they asked friends to make a booth for their pet - if possible with insulation.
At one time, I built a fairly large number of such objects. We can
but to say, he ate the dog on them (don't look at me like that, Archibald, and don't growl, I'm kidding). And in general, I owe the ability to own a hacksaw and a hammer to the doghouses. As a child, it was an elective for me to labor lessons. Eh, youth ...
So why not help friends? I decided to make the booth prettier. I asked the owner to buy the appropriate material: roofing and boards 150 × 25 mm, which are quite suitable for the frame.
He built it in the following way: he assembled a rectangle from the boards and immediately laid a floor of the same boards on it. It turned out a kind of pallet with a height of the board width - 150 mm. And from below I attached a piece of foam, cut to size, to it - that's it, the floor is insulated.
I assembled the frame of the front and rear walls of the booth in the same way, with the only difference that I cut a rectangular hole in one of the walls - the entrance. Again, I screwed two boards to the floor with self-tapping screws on metal corners, having previously cut off their tops at an angle of 45 °, and then attached two more boards with an inward slope to them - it turned out the ridge of the roof. Here, proper
but, and the whole frame. It remains only to sheathe it with the same boards.
I started with the walls, and when they were ready, I tightened them inside with a laminate backing. Have you tried to stand on such material with bare feet? Very warm. I thought that the dog would be even warmer, and perhaps it would be so, but ... Excuse me, I got ahead of myself.
So, then I sewed up the roof with soft tiles. It took exactly one hour of time and one pack of this fashionable material. All external corners and ends, as well as the sides of the roof, were decorated with wooden corners 40 × 40 mm. And so that everyone immediately understood whose house it was, he cut out the letters that make up the name of the dog with a jigsaw from the scraps of the board, nailing them over the entrance. I spread fresh hay on the floor.
It would seem, live and be happy, dog. Aha ... She immediately tore off the insulation from the walls, tore off the corners, bit everything that she could - apparently, she has her own ideas about home comfort. Who would argue about tastes?
But now I'm thinking, should I bother with decorating a booth for my Archibald?

In winter, it is very important that the dog is comfortable in the booth. And even if heating has already been installed in the kennel, a simple curtain from the old rag bag folded in half will help keep the heat. The curtain should be wider than the hole by 5 cm on each side and cover the threshold also by 5 cm. I made a double curtain, and nailed a hat under the ridge without a hat - to pierce the blinds in the open state.
In the summer both curtains are open. In the fall I omit one, and in the winter Laz close both canvases. In the process of operation, however, it was necessary to upgrade the booth. So, in the first winter I drilled 3 air vents with a diameter of 30 mm at the ceiling of the XNUMX booth. After the first dog birth, a transparent window was sewn into the first curtain to increase the illumination of the booth. And later he sewed a button and a loop to adjust the corner of the curtain.

The heater for the dog house itself
How to make "heating" for a dog booth
Last year, they started a dog to protect the site and made a comfortable home for her. That the animal did not freeze in the cold season, made a simple and safe heater.
From the cable with a plug, a cartridge and a light bulb on 40 W made a heating element (photo 1).
He placed it in a piece of asbestos-cement pipe.
Inside the hay, the ends of the cylinder were closed with inserts (photo 2,3), which made of cans of suitable diameter.
He tested the heater - after two hours the pipe warmed up completely.
He placed the ten in the booth, after another cold night found out that Dinka's warmth, frost on the walls, all melted and dried.
The energy consumption for 12 night hours was only 480 W, and this also speaks for the economy of the device.
He made several such heaters for heating a freezing cellar, a chicken coop and a garage.
