Our house is covered with a white brick, which became gray by age. Because of this, the house looks untidy. I would like to paint the brick and paint a picture (forest or flowers). Tell me how to prepare the surface of bricks and what colors to use so that the picture does not suffer from bad weather?

Your task is not simple, as it may seem at first glance. The fact is that the negative characteristic of silicate brick is the increased absorbency of moisture in its mass. Of course, in dry weather, moisture gradually comes out from the surface of the brick and nothing negative happens. But if we start painting after the rain, then we will create an obstacle for the exit of the potentially available moisture. And we do not need it at all, because during frosts moisture increases in volume and turns into ice.

So, in the summer it is necessary to wait a decent interval of dry weather, so that possible moisture may leave the surface of the brick. And only after this start creativity. First of all, with a spatula or iron brush, the degraded layer of silicate is cleaned off the surface of the brick. Then in the course there is a facade ground, preferably two, and preferably three layers (with a mandatory break for drying the soil). This will be a preliminary surface preparation. And already on the ground the entire surface is painted with white facade paint. Next, the same paint with the help of colourants (tinting systems) is colored in the colors of your picture. To do this, use the basic base paint and coloring compounds - color. Colors have a contrasting or saturated color. Coloring pigments of colorants can be of organic or inorganic origin. It should be taken into account that pigments on an organic basis are often used to produce brighter tones, but they have some disadvantages: it is not suitable for all types of surfaces and over time, the paint burns out under the sun.

Inorganic pigments are represented by a smaller range of shades, but they are resistant to weathering and burnout. Apply the drawing better with brushes, but without waiting for the complete drying of the base layer - so the adhesion of the materials will be better.
