Brick retro corner in the hall with their own hands
Anteroom in retro style with your own hands
The hallway of the purchased apartment was covered with wallpaper, which I did not like. My cat helped me to renovate the walls - for a year all around the perimeter he noted claws on the walls of the height of his height.
Having looked on the Internet several variants of the corridor design, chose for itself the most simple and budgetary way.
I took off old wallpaper, cleaned the wall and covered it with a liquid primer (photo 1).
I drew the entire surface into bricks (photo 2) measuring 25 × 6,5 cm. The distance between the bricks (future joints) turned out to be 2 cm wide, according to the size of the masking tape, which was glued after them (photo 3). At the beginning and at the end of each horizontal row, sticking the tape, left loose tips 5 cm long. I applied vertical short strips overlapping, connecting the lower and upper horizontal.
I bought a bag of finishing putty, spread it with water to the consistency of thick sour cream.
The spatula applied a solution to the wall in small portions (on 2-3 series), then immediately, without waiting for grasping, removed the painting tape (photo 4). The thickness of the bricks turned out approximately 7-10 mm. She left to dry for two days.
With a large sandpaper, it removed excess shpatlevka from the surfaces of bricks and processed their edges.
I painted the entire wall with white water-emulsion paint.

An excellent addition to the renovated wall was a lamp, bought for a very long time and gathering dust in the pantry, in the form of a lantern. Recolored his frame, replaced the glass. I hung a new sconce on the flower pot holder, bolted to the wall.
Such an economical and fast way of updating in retro style was very much liked by my family and friends.
CONSULTATION OF THE SPECIALIST
Decorative finishing
Choosing materials for interior decoration of walls, it is necessary to take into account their aesthetics, cost and ecological compatibility. In this regard, imitation of bricks from plaster is the best option. But what you should pay attention to and what it is good, will tell the master-teller Ivan Minich from Adler.
important points
1. Before starting work, check the level and, if necessary, level the walls. The angles between them and the floor should be equal to 90 degrees.
2. On a flat wall before applying, seal all defects with a plaster mixture, treat the surface with a priming solution.
3. A brick wall made of plaster will look as realistic as possible if it is painted with a paint of a lighter color than a brick. When dried, it will darken and give details a more contrasting look.
Important!
Decorative finishing plastering materials in new buildings (including plaster for brick) can be performed no earlier than 12 months after the delivery of the object. Otherwise, because of the shrinkage of the house in the coating, cracks will appear and everything will have to be altered.

Our house is covered with a white brick, which became gray by age. Because of this, the house looks untidy. I would like to paint the brick and paint a picture (forest or flowers). Tell me how to prepare the surface of bricks and what colors to use so that the picture does not suffer from bad weather?

Your task is not simple, as it may seem at first glance. The fact is that the negative characteristic of silicate brick is the increased absorbency of moisture in its mass. Of course, in dry weather, moisture gradually comes out from the surface of the brick and nothing negative happens. But if we start painting after the rain, then we will create an obstacle for the exit of the potentially available moisture. And we do not need it at all, because during frosts moisture increases in volume and turns into ice.
So, in the summer it is necessary to wait a decent interval of dry weather, so that possible moisture may leave the surface of the brick. And only after this start creativity. First of all, with a spatula or iron brush, the degraded layer of silicate is cleaned off the surface of the brick. Then in the course there is a facade ground, preferably two, and preferably three layers (with a mandatory break for drying the soil). This will be a preliminary surface preparation. And already on the ground the entire surface is painted with white facade paint. Next, the same paint with the help of colourants (tinting systems) is colored in the colors of your picture. To do this, use the basic base paint and coloring compounds - color. Colors have a contrasting or saturated color. Coloring pigments of colorants can be of organic or inorganic origin. It should be taken into account that pigments on an organic basis are often used to produce brighter tones, but they have some disadvantages: it is not suitable for all types of surfaces and over time, the paint burns out under the sun.
Inorganic pigments are represented by a smaller range of shades, but they are resistant to weathering and burnout. Apply the drawing better with brushes, but without waiting for the complete drying of the base layer - so the adhesion of the materials will be better.
