Doing (rejuvenating pruning) with your own hands - tips
WHY DOES A TREE NEED A MUE?
How to do no harm in trying to rejuvenate a tree? How to make anti-aging pruning?
These questions often worry beginner gardeners, because sometimes, buying a summer cottage, we get “into the load” fruit trees of good, favorite varieties, but old.
It is not easy to cut such a colossus, and it’s a pity, but it’s still a long time to wait for the new crop from the newly planted trees! Good fruiting can be restored with rejuvenating pruning, i.e. limiting growth in length and width. Usually gardeners for their convenience just shorten the crown of apple treeswithout thinking that the leading branches should be transferred to the side. Some strong branches that thicken the center of the crown must be cut out on a ring or bend and secured in such a position that the upper part of the crown opens and “breathes”.
No need to rush and remove several thick branches at once, this can lead to unnecessary tops and wounds, which will then be difficult to heal. Unhealed wounds will inevitably lead to freezing, illness and loss of harvest!
Rejuvenating pruning we call chasing. Pay attention to the increase in annual increments on skeletal branches: if the increase has decreased on average by 30 cm, then chasing is necessary. It is better to not prune in one year, but ideally choose a lean season, as the old or thickened fruit tree also needs sanitary pruning and simple thinning of the crown. Sick, damaged branches and shoots must be removed in spring, before the onset of sap flow, at the same time it is good to lower the crown.
Each gardener has in his arsenal a means for glossing over saw cuts.
It is advisable to spray the wound with a disinfecting solution, I usually use a weak solution of copper sulphate, then I let the saw cut dry and cover it with garden pitch. I noticed that some paint cuts with ordinary paint based on linseed oil, but this is not the best option: over time, the wound can leak and grow.
All Rejuvenating pruning work is best done on a clear, not overcast day.. It is advisable to cut the undergrowth deeper on the ring and cover all wounds.
Weakened after pruning, the trees first need feeding and mulching pristvolnyh circles, necessarily spraying from diseases and pests.
There is also a forced pruning of trees - this is when in winter the branches broke off under the weight of the snow. Then it is necessary to cut off the broken branch and treat the wound.
If, when buying a summer cottage, your hands dropped from the sight of running or old apple trees, do not be discouraged! Just choose the time in early spring, find a reliable stepladder, process with potassium permanganate saws, hacksaws, pruners and, slowly, start rejuvenating your fruit trees.

IF THE GRAPE DOESN'T TIME TO MATURE ...
In August, it is necessary to mint grapes - pruning vines and stepsons. Tear off all the leaves covering the bunches so that they are lit as best as possible by the sun. In July - August, foliar top dressing with potassium, humate and succinic acid.
Separate bunches of grapes can be placed in plastic bags with several openings for air exchange.
If the clusters begin to ripen, but the berries do not have time to gain sugar content, then before the onset of cold weather, cut them together with vines 50-70 cm long, paraffin the ends and hang them in a cool, dry room - they will reach a little, tanning. If you grow grapes for wine, then sugar content can be raised with sugar, i.e. increase the density of juice by diluting sugar in it.

How to mint grapes
What is the operation called chasing grapes?
When is it better to spend it?
#
Removing the tops of all shoots on grapes with 6-8 upper leaves is called chasing. At the same time over clusters leave at least 10-12 leaves. The operation is carried out with a pruner, sharp knife or sickle.
It is carried out on regularly irrigated vineyards, on vigorous and late varieties, on rich soils and in rainy years. In non-irrigated conditions, the operation is necessary on vigorous plants, as well as varieties with weak maturation of the shoots.
This is done to achieve the following goals:
- for the ripening of shoots, then fruitful buds are better laid on them;
- to improve the access of light to bunches, which increases their quality: size, juiciness increases, the appearance of berries improves;
- to enhance the ventilation of bushes, which prevents the development of diseases.
This operation is carried out at a time when the active growth of shoots and berries is suspended. Due to the fact that varieties grow and ripen in different ways, they are minted at different times. The exact term is determined by the condition of the vine. The best sign of the attenuation of shoot growth, when and when it is necessary to engage in chasing, is the straightening of the tips of the shoots (with active
they are bent in height). In Belarus and central Russia, this usually occurs from late July to mid-August. Later chasing does not give the desired results.
Note
Remember: do not mint young grape bushes and light-growing wine grape varieties in the hot and dry summer.
Council
It is impossible to mint shoots during their strong growth - this will lead to rapid growth of the upper stepchildren and cause another thickening of the bushes, worsen the ripening of the crop and vines. Usually wintering eyes in the axils of the leaves may wake up ahead of time, which will deprive the harvest next year.
