WHAT DOES SEEDS DISAPPEAR?
Now on the shelves presented a huge number of all kinds of seeds that are already pickled from pests and diseases, and even processed with microelements. But among us was and remains a great many of those who will never entrust the future harvest to an unfamiliar producer and will not believe the beautiful packaging. Many summer residents and gardeners prefer to prepare their own seeds. In this, of course, there is nothing bad. But here it is not always possible to get the desired result in the beds. Sometimes the reason for this is not the seeds, which were good, but improper preparation for sowing.
We know that harmful microorganisms can remain on the surface of seeds - pathogens that can ruin the crop not even at the root, but even at the germination stages. In order to avoid such disappointments, I suggest to get acquainted with the popular methods of disinfecting vegetable seeds.
DISINFECTING SEEDS WITH MUSTARDS
Mustard powder (1 tsp.) Pour 100 ml of warm water and stir until smooth. Soak the seeds in the resulting 2-3 solution for an hour, then rinse with running water and dry.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS BY HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
Hydrogen peroxide is a well-known and widely used disinfectant. It is also used to work with seeds. In a glass of warm water you need to add 1 tsp. hydrogen peroxide and stir. Seeds are placed in the solution for a period of no more than 3 hours (this method is considered to be the best for peppers, eggplants and tomatoes). After washing under running water and dry.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS BY GARLIC
Peel a few large cloves of garlic and pass through the press. Pour all this 100 ml of warm water, mash the garlic, stir and let it stand for 2-3 hours. Then stir again, wait until the suspension settles, and keep the seeds in the resulting product for one hour, then dry them. This method is recommended for seeds of crops such as radish, swede, radish, mustard, cabbage.
DISPOSAL OF ALOE SEEDS
Aloe is a good tool not only for treating any wounds received by humans, but also for preparing for sowing seeds. Its juice disinfects, and besides, is a wonderful natural biological stimulator of growth and development of the root system.
From the freshly cut parts of aloe, squeeze out the juice, dilute it with an equal or one-and-a-half volume of boiled warm water and immerse the seeds in this solution for a day. Then gently rinse and dry.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS BY MANGANTSA
Potassium permanganate, better known by the people as potassium permanganate, has long been a reliable means of disinfection and disinfection. To prepare the solution is simple: the readiness criterion is pink, almost transparent color (it is not necessary to increase the concentration, bringing to a dark pink color). Then soak the seeds in the resulting liquid for a day, putting the container in a warm place. After that they should be dried.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS GOLD
A saturated solution of wood ash helps not only to disinfect the seeds, but also additionally nourishes them with microelements, which has a positive effect on the initial stages of growth and development.
Half a cup of sifted and ground wood ash pour 1 l of boiled, slightly warm water and, stirring, leave for a day. Wrap the seeds in a gauze bag and immerse in the infusion. At the end of the procedure - rinse and dry. For onions, carrots and parsley you need 6 soaking hours, for cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, zucchini enough 3. This is best done before sowing.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS WITH SODA
Apply to disinfection and disinfection and soda. To do this, take a pinch of powder on the tip of the knife and dissolve it in a glass of water (200 ml). Soak the seeds for several hours, after which they must be dried.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS BY COLD
The cold allows not only to “destroy” some of the harmful objects on the shell, but also to harden the seeds themselves. However, its impact on each culture is different. In order for the tomatoes to be adapted to adverse weather conditions and pleased with their yield, the seeds should be placed on the 12 hours in the refrigerator at 0-2 degrees of heat, then 12 hours to hold at the temperature 15-20 degrees. This procedure should be repeated several times.
DISPOSAL OF SEEDS WITH SALT ACID
Against viruses, seed treatment with 20% hydrochloric acid for 10-15 minutes helps. After such a "bathing" they need to be washed and dried. However, in carrying out this procedure, it is important to take care that protection will also be useful in this method.
Fertilizers - Protectors
A concentrated solution of mineral fertilizers also creates unfavorable conditions for pathogens, as a result they die, and the seeds get a “cheerfulness charge” for a friendly start, the solution is prepared as follows: 10 g potassium nitrate and superphosphate, 0,2 g manganese sulfate must be crushed and dissolved in 1 l warm boiled water. Insist for several hours, mix well and strain. Seeds are soaked on the 10-12 hours. After that they need to be washed and dried.
Remember that the most reliable way is the one that is tested on personal experience. If you decide to try something new, do not do it at once on all seeds. First, use the innovation on a small part of the seed, and the following year, personally checking and making sure of the reliability and efficiency of the method, introduce it widely!
