SELF-MODE ADAPTATION FOR CLEANING ROOF OF GREENHOUSES FROM SNOW
“There is little light behind the window, White snow is falling, it is falling ...” It’s only the song that looks beautiful, but you don’t have time to look back at the dacha - and the heavy, fragile roof of the greenhouse pushed through the white fluffy snow. Remove? Of course! Only without wasting manpower and money.
We all know how wonderful it is in the summer at the dacha: you will work in pleasure, and you will rest in joy. And in the winter it is not bad: nobody will judge the sledges, skis, and lie in the snow with children or grandchildren, meet the New Year, and dress Pancake Day, but what else ... One thing worries: it hurts a lot of snow during the winter - greenhouses under his weight and that look broken.
I live in Central Russia, my cottage stands on the banks of the Kama River. Today the "snow" problem is particularly relevant (this is seen in the photo). So that in the spring there would be where to plant cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, during the winter there are three or four, or even five or six times to remove the snow from the greenhouses! It is not as simple as it seems at first glance, -who was engaged, he knows.
Everyone has their own method of saving greenhouses. Some people remove the glass from the roof for the winter and re-install it in the spring. Troublesome! Others take the ladder, drag it in deep snow, put it to the greenhouse and try to throw snow away with a shovel. Heavy! Still others cover the greenhouse with plastic wrap every year. Expensive!
Honu to offer you, dear gardeners, a simple, easy and economical method of cleaning the roofs of greenhouses from snow. We have been using this method for more than 20 for years and always with unchanged success.
Once and for all life you need to do next fixture (i call it "undercut"): on a rectangular piece of plywood 5 mm thick, nail a pole about 3-4 m in length in the middle.
The cross section of the pole can be round or square - to whom it is convenient. My “trimmer” has a pole of length 3 m (a bit short!) Of square section with a side of 5 cm and plywood of size 30 × 80 cm.
The width of the plywood can be a little more or a little less, but the length ... If you have a glass greenhouse, the glass is superimposed on the metal guides. You need to measure the distance between them and add 20 cm - this will be the length of the plywood.
Work process: we install plywood on the edge of the greenhouse on metal guides so that the 10 remains to the right and to the left of them. See the glass. The pole and plywood do not touch - this is important! Push the pole up and down. In this case, the plywood slides along the guides and cuts the snow, and the snow smoothly slides down. That's all!
I would add that it is convenient to remove snow with such a device not only from the glass greenhouse, but also from the round roof of the polycarbonate greenhouse, from the roofs of the bathhouse, gazebos, gates, etc.
