HELPFUL TIPS AND IDEAS FOR BEGINNERS
Bench board with planing lugs
In my workbench there are no holes for the stops, and for planing the boards manually I had to mount the trim with clamps. But long or wide workpieces constantly shifted to the side while working, and I made an adjustable bench board to hold them firmly in place. Only a work bench with a vice is required.
The bottom bar of the fixture is simply clamped in a vice, and the position of the movable stop is adjusted according to the width of the workpiece.
Improvised dryer for painted parts
Starting to paint the shelves for the rack, I realized that there was not enough room in the workshop to dry them. Therefore, I took a large piece of plywood and fastened high-speed single-handed clamps along its edges. Without spending time and materials, it was possible to quickly build the dryer, which only needed to lean against the wall or workbench, so that it would not tip over under the weight of the shelves.

Reliable protection of drawings
When I come across a product drawing worthy of transferring it to the workshop, I make a color copy and paste it with a film using an inexpensive laminator. (Such machines can be purchased at companies selling office equipment.) Lamination protects pages in the harsh conditions of the workshop, including glue drips, stain, and even spilled coffee. In addition, I can temporarily mark my drawings with a wax pencil. It is also convenient to store the drawings using a file folder with three steel rings, or hanging them from a hook by the hole punctured in the corner.
Mobile platform for finishing work
When a large part or product can not be put on the workbench, they often have to be set obliquely, leaning, for example, against the wall. Finishing becomes uncomfortable, and access to all surfaces can be difficult.
Put your project on this convenient platform, and you can rotate it. to make any surface available. Tall items can be mounted vertically with wood grouse screws by screwing them into the bottom. Pads of hardboard will help avoid fluid accumulations at the base of the parts. When not in use, the platform can be stored vertically against a wall.
Assembly table does not have to be cleaned for a long time
Dried glue drops are not easily removed from a wooden workbench, but they are easily separated from smooth surfaces that do not have pores. Having bought a discounted marble slab in a building supermarket, I used it as the lid of the assembly table, and now it takes less time to clean. The surface of the marble slab is perfectly flat, and it helps to improve the build quality of my projects.
Spacing spike joints will be easier
When making dovetail joints, I prefer to cut the spikes first, since the gaps between them are larger and it is easier to mark the tails on the adjacent board. However, encircling the spikes, it is difficult to keep the part stationary.
To fix the spiked board, glue a wooden dowel to the holes for the bench benches at the end of the flat bar. Install this stand on the workbench, attach a spiked board to it with a clamp, placing it on the blank for the “tails”, and circle the spikes.
Magnetic mounting side guard
To remove a thin layer of material from the edge of the blank, a manual planer with a sharply sharpened blade is best suited. But. if the workpiece does not fit in the bottom fixture, the plane must be guided by hand, and he constantly strives to lean to the side on the narrow edge. This simple side stop, made of hardboard, glued to the trimming of plywood, and rare-earth magnets, fixed in the tsekovki with epoxy glue, solved my problem, and now the plane does not lose stability even on the narrowest edges.

Close the glueing corners with plastic corners.
In order not to stain the ribbon clamp with glue, I insert plastic corners between the tape and parts used in the transportation of sheet materials in shopping centers and building materials stores. Ask the workers about their availability, because most often they are simply thrown away.
