Thinning carrots - quick ways and my reviews about them

HOW TO SPREAD CARROT FASTER - TIPS AND TESTIMONIALS
The carrot is good for everyone, but, no matter how hard you try, you cannot sow it so that you do not thin it out later. And this is a very tedious procedure that needs to be done at least 2 times. And pull out the plants should be strictly vertically, so as not to damage the roots of neighboring plants - from this they can form bifurcated roots.
It is impossible to be late with thinning: root crops begin to fight for space, at the same time they are bent, and receiving insufficient amount of nutrients remain “dwarfs”.
CARROT CUTTING THROUGH PINGETTE
This is not to say that I did not try to optimize this process. Somehow in the children's game I got a big plastic tweezers. The grandchildren gave it to me, and I started pulling extra plants with this tool when thinning carrots, seizing the stems at the very base. It turned out well, it was necessary only to wet the soil before this operation.
But all things released his age, and after a while the tweezers broke. Finding another such was not possible, and then I began to look for ways of thinning carrots without exhausting efforts.
CUTTING CARROT WITH SCISSORS
Soon I found the information I needed. In one case, it was proposed to cut off the extra shoots under the root with ordinary scissors. At the same time between the plants, you can immediately leave the interval 5-6 see. Due to this, the second operation is no longer required. And this, by the way, is very important, because during the second punching (this is another name for thinning), in mid-May, a carrot fly is activated, which unerringly flies on the smell of tops of distant plants, finds a bed with carrots and lays eggs into the soil. The larvae hatching from them literally pounce on young plants, damage the tops, suck out the juice. This, of course, negatively affects the harvest.
It is clear that if thinning is carried out earlier, at the beginning of the month, and then to cover the planting with a light spanbond, the carrot fly will not reach the bed.

CUTTING WITH A KNIFE
The same advantage has the second method, which requires several large labor costs. It is alleged that it was used in the old days (although I’m a pensioner, I haven’t heard anything about it).
You need to take a long sharp knife, insert it with a blade down into the depth between the plants to a depth of 3-4 cm, and then, tilting to the right, give it a horizontal position under the ground and cut off the roots of several plants with an arched movement approximately after 6 cm. in this way, the extra carrots are easily removed for the tops of the soil.
PRACTICE
Last season I decided to try three ways - traditional and 2 new. A 6-meter-bed planted with carrot seeds was divided by wide boards into 3 parts of 2 m.
The results of the traditional method and thinning with a knife were, in principle, the same: carrot roots did not interfere with each other in growth and turned out large, smooth and juicy.
But "cutting off" with scissors led to unpleasant consequences. The leaves of the plants began to gradually curl, turn yellow and dry, and the stems turned black and began to lean toward the ground.
According to the determinant of diseases, I found that carrots were affected by black rot - alternariosis. I had to remove all the plants. Thanks to the barrier in the form of a board, the disease did not spread to neighboring bushes.
Later I found an explanation for this phenomenon. The roots left in the soil began to rot and became the source of the fungal "attack". So scissors for thinning are not suitable.
