MUSHROOMS ON THE PLUM BAR - HOW TO FIGHT?
You wrote about fungus mushrooms that infect walnut trees.
But can they settle in other cultures? I have a fear that mushrooms have chosen my plums.

WHAT IS THE RED-HANDED PEOPLE DANGEROUS
In our climatic zone tinder funders are found everywhere. Settling on trunks, branches and even roots, they cause decay, and eventually the death of plants. Especially often they can be found in old neglected plum tree gardens. Fruit bodies appear on the trunks and branches - mainly hoof-like, first velvety, then smooth, with a reddish-brown (to grayish-black) crust and a blunt reddish edge. In diseased tissue, severe yellowing with brown stripes along the edges is noted, rot spreads upward and down the trunk, often affecting the roots.
This disease causes plum red tinder. It is the most dangerous parasite for trees, with which a person has unsuccessfully fought for many years. A harmless-looking, and sometimes even cute, growth in the form of a hoof or hemisphere on a tree indicates that it is infected and, alas, doomed. The plum red tinder fungus causes rot of the core of the trunks and branches in all stone fruits, bird cherry, hawthorn, less often in apple and pear trees. Sometimes sapwood is affected (in cherry), while the trunks and branches quickly dry up and break.
The disease develops after spores of fungi get into various wounds on the bark of trees (mechanical cracks, frost holes, damage by rodents and insects). When they germinate, a mycelium is formed.
It penetrates the wood and causes its destruction. On the trunks of the affected trees, hoof-like or hat-shaped fruit bodies appear, dispersing the mass of spores. They fully ripen by August, and they are carried over long distances by the wind. Once on a suitable substrate, spores germinate, forming a mycelium (mycelium). Propagating through wood, it gradually (over several years) destroys.
Insidious enemy
At first, the growing mushroom simply depresses, weakens the tree, slows its development, and then hollows form in the trunk, branches or roots die off completely or partially. At the same time, fruiting bodies appear on the bark at the lesion sites, and the wood itself gradually disintegrates. The fact of the appearance of the fruit body of the tinder fungus on the stem means that the mycelium has already affected at least half of the trunk. A healthy, strong tree will last 5-6 years, and then it will inevitably die anyway.

IS IT WORKING TO PROCESS PLUM FROM MUSHROOMS ON THE STEM?
Many underestimate the harm that tinder workers inflict on trees, and therefore do not fight them. Meanwhile, do not immediately cut down the diseased trees, but you need to try to help them. It usually takes almost 5 years from the appearance of the first fungal raids to death, so there is time to save the plum tree.
If you find a mushroom only on a branch, then it is likely that the infection has not yet managed to spread to the whole tree. It is better to immediately cut off the affected shoot right near the trunk: if the cut is light, hard and without signs of decay, the plum is still completely healthy, and if the wood is soft and yellow, with brown stripes at the edges, the plant is completely infected. When a mushroom grows on a stem, this indicates infection of the entire tree. A completely affected plant is subject to uprooting and burning.
We work ahead of the curve
Are there any preventative measures? Undoubtedly. To prevent infection and prolong the life of an infected tree, it is first of all necessary to fertilize timely and correctly, increasing nutrition and selecting the necessary watering regime, as well as uprooting nearby stumps (if any), removing and burning damaged and drying branches, exfoliated bark, which First of all, they attract tinder men. Slices should be treated with a 3% solution of copper sulfate and garden var.
It is very important to protect the bark from wounds, frost damage, sun rays, insects and rodents. Excellent prevention - spraying trees without leaves with 5% solution of iron sulfate, and with foliage - copper-containing preparations.
If, in spite of all efforts, the tinder fungus nevertheless appears on a tree in your garden, you must immediately take measures to prevent other trees from becoming infected. In July, it is worth inspecting the trees, because in August spore maturation begins. If mushroom bodies are found, they must be cut together with the rotten bark with a sharp garden knife, after having preliminarily placed an oilcloth or dense fabric under the tree so that the material to be removed does not fall to the ground. All wounds should be cleaned to strong wood, and the resulting waste should be collected and burned. And only after that you can begin to disinfect.
WHAT TO PROCESS PLUM FROM MUSHROOMS
For this procedure, the drug "Frutin Zh" is used, which is recommended for use in summer cottages and household plots. The tool is a microbiological biological product that fights pathogenic microflora, strengthens the plant and increases its resistance to all types of rot. It is necessary to dilute 100 ml of the biological product in 1 liter of water and treat all the wounds that have been cleaned with it. Then they are covered with garden putty. After these measures, even an infected tree can please the gardener with its fruits for several more years.
