HOW TO WEAVE LIVING WOOD FROM VINE
The fact that weaving from a vine is amazing and at the same time absolutely free decor for the garden (if a suitable vine grows nearby), I was convinced from personal experience.
I bought a vine of a suitable variety at the garden market.
After unpacking the pack, I soaked the butt of the rods in water for 5-10 minutes, then cut it off a little by about 2-3 cm. I poured the earth into a plastic bucket to the top, tamped it tightly.
With a smaller bucket, I pushed a circle through the ground (photo 1) and stuck the rods along it at approximately equal distance from each other to make 6 racks of 6 branches each (photo 2). According to the scheme (see fig. On page 15), he began to weave the racks, dividing them (3 bars each).
Closer to the tops of the intersection, I fixed it with twine (photo 3) I cut the tops a little and exposed decorative elements in the garden. It remains to wait for the vine to take root and dissolve the leaves.

LIVE WOVEN TREES BY OWN HANDS
Living wicker trees have recently become a very popular decoration of the site (see photo). You can buy or prepare rods for them yourself. But here everything is not as simple as it seems at first glance. In general, the author of the article did everything right, performed a trimming, picked up a scheme, but several important rules remained undisclosed.
1. The rods prepared for weaving must not be cracked, peeled off the bark and dried out - they will not grow fully.
2. For work, you need to use willow varieties, which have a loose core and long juicy leaves - American, Ural winding, Matsudana.
H. When weaving, bend the willow twigs very carefully so as not to break them.
4. To create one such tree, you need 48 twigs. They must be divided into bundles of 6 pieces each. The beauty of the finished product directly depends on how even and small rhombuses you get.
5. In the early stages of germination, create optimal conditions: a heated greenhouse or a warm house, the south side of the site is also suitable. Provide high humidity or additional spraying. Germination temperature - not lower than 15 degrees.
6. Timely remove the dormant buds on the wicker trunk (so that they do not grow into leaves) and properly cut the crown of the tree (you can consult a specialist).
7. In winter, the pre-cut rod should be stored under the snow in a pit about 1 m deep (the length depends on the length of the rod). The more snow, the better. Growing twigs can be cut in mid to late March (at this time the willow is still sleeping).

LIVING WOOD WITH YOUR OWN HANDS - WEAVING FROM THE VINE: TIPS AND FEEDBACKS
WOVEN A TREE FROM A VINE WITH OWN HANDS
I recently bought a dacha, there were only currant bushes and gooseberries. And I wanted beauty - flowers and ornamental shrubs. She transplanted the berries (grandchildren love to eat), and filled the vacant places with flower beds. It seems cozy, but there is still no zest. I began to look for what to decorate the site with so extraordinary. In early spring, she prepared willow twigs and wove flower-baskets. It turned out with dignity, but again something was missing. And then the idea came to weave - a tree trunk with a green ball of foliage ..
PREPARATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION
In May, I cut willow twigs and put them in a container of water in a greenhouse.
After about 3 weeks, as soon as a hint of root rudiments appeared, I stuck the twigs into a bucket (8 l) with garden soil, sprinkling sand on the bottom with a layer of 2 cm. I preliminarily made drainage holes in the bottom and side walls of the container.
Weaved a "trunk" of 3 twigs, tying each weave with a string for reliability.
CARE FEATURES
She lowered the workpiece with the pot into a ditch with water, shading for the first time, and kept it that way until the buds on the top of the tree began to blossom ”(she plucked the rest on the“ trunk ”, that is, blinded). All the tied weaves must grow together - after a year the strings are removed. The top of the tree ”can be cut and shaped at will. So my site has acquired a zest, which I am very happy about!

OUTDOOR GROUND
In the future, the miracle tree can be transplanted from a bucket into open ground, where it will become an attraction of your site for a long time.
COMMENTS SPECIALIST
Almost all willows form abundant root shoots and are easily propagated by lignified and green cuttings. And rods are an excellent material for creating wattle fences, arches, tunnels and even arbors. For a tapeworm with an intertwined stem, like Olga's, it is better to cut willow branches not in May, but on non-frosty days in February-March, when sap flow is slowed down. For those who like to experiment, I offer several more options for green architecture.A hedge of willow branches, planted crosswise at a distance of 10-15 cm from each other, will grow over the years so that it will be almost impossible to get through it.
From a distance it looks exotic - with narrow leaves it resembles bamboo. The willow canopy will become your "place of power" (if you have the patience to grow it). To do this, 8 plants are planted in a circle of the desired diameter. As they grow, the lower branches are removed and the stem is removed to the required canopy height. At this level, the plants bend slightly towards the center and tie the branches together. Shape - alive ”the roofs are maintained by trimming them several times a year.
The walls and the dome of the arbor can be weaved from young flexible branches. From long rods create, for example, a "web" over the side walls, string plastic balls or funny toys on them. And if you stick fresh willow branches into the ground next to the wall to a depth of 20-30 cm, they will take root and turn the wicker house into a green tent.
